Meet Dr. Kimberly Gasaway, Griffiss Institute’s LEGACY Site Lead for Eglin Air Force Base, Florida!
Did you know that GI employs staff from across the country? Through our outreach and internship programs, our offsite team members play a crucial role in advancing GI’s mission. Kimberly is one such essential member, driving forward our LEGACY internship program.
Joining us after previously working with the LEGACY program outside of GI, Kimberly was thrilled to return to a role she loves. Despite being offsite, she never feels like an outsider. “As a remote employee, I feel that communication, teamwork, trust, and collaboration are huge core values at GI,” she says, emphasizing the strong connection she feels with her team through regular meetings, emails, and more.
With summer approaching, Kimberly is excited for LEGACY students and interns to experience the program’s full potential. “Savor each day, learn something new, challenge yourself to give your best, and inspire others around you.” There are incredible opportunities both within GI in New York and at her local LEGACY headquarters in Florida every single day, including working with drones and getting up close to some amazing aircraft!
Wherever you’re located, Kimberly believes you can contribute to GI’s mission by promoting STEM and seizing every learning opportunity during your program. Her advice for anyone looking to make the most of their time: connect with different people, immerse yourself in the local culture, and letting the exciting and innovative energy you come across inspire you.
