Fundraiser Features Drone Invasion

NEW HARTFORD – Drones will once again invade the New Hartford Barnes & Noble on Veteran’s Day weekend. CNY Drones Model Aviation Student Club (MASC) in cooperation with a new sister organization, the Academy of Model Aeronautics University MASC at SUNY Polytechnic Institute, is hosting their 2nd Annual Drone Invasion Book Fair fundraiser on Saturday and Sunday, November 11 & 12, from 9:00 am – 7:00 pm at 4811 Commercial Drive, New Hartford. The 2-day event will feature drone flying demonstrations, interactive flight simulators, a first-time flyer zone, 3d printing and information on the new Rig Rescue Team Drone Challenge. The demonstrations are in conjunction with the Nationwide Mini-Maker Faire at Barnes & Noble stores nationwide.  Visitors can take part in a drone raffle with a drawing at 5:00 pm on Sunday.  The winner need not be present to win.

Barnes & Noble will donate a percentage of book, toy and café purchases to support both organizations’ activities through their affiliated Academy of Model Aeronautics clubs. Those who cannot attend the event can help the two groups by shopping online from Saturday, November 11 to Friday, November 17 using the Book Fair IDs: 12244414 or 12244406.

CNY Drones hosts an informational hub to keep the local drone community connected to events, safety updates, and the latest technology information.  MASC activities include hands-on drone workshops, flying events and demonstrations. CNY Drones is also a MultiGP Racing Chapter, hosting outdoor and indoor race events. All CNY Drones events focus on the promotion of STEM and safety awareness. The SUNY student club will be joining in on existing community programs and hosting their own on campus events.
