UTICA, NY – The SUNY Polytechnic Institute Academy of Model Aeronautics University Model Aviation Student Club (SUNY AMA), in cooperation with CNY Drones, presents the 3rd Annual Drone Info Day, September 30, 2018, Noon to 3:00pm in the SUNY Polytechnic Institute Student Center Multipurpose Room. The public is invited to a free afternoon of learning, sharing and networking with local drone enthusiasts, engineers, and educators.  The event features the kick-off of the 2019 STEM-focused Indoor Team Drone Challenge, Forest Fury.   The annual competition for students, age 11+, will take place on April 7, 2019 on the SUNY campus.  Forest Fury is the centerpiece of CNY Drones volunteer run programs. SUNY AMA, along with the SUNY 3D Printing, and Fabrication Clubs, are assisting with the creation of this season’s field.  Forest Fury’s theme is based on a forest fire rescue scenario.  It will include a hiking trail, fire tower, mountain terrain, and a time-triggered landslide.  Drone Info Day include a portion of the 30 x 60 ft. field and sample field elements.  Information on competition registration will be available from CNY Drones volunteers.

Drone Info Day also includes drone flight simulators, demos with FPV viewing, safety information and local drone technology organization exhibits.  The event is part of CNY Drones’ and SUNY AMA UMASC’s efforts to promote STEM, provide awareness of drone technology educational and employment opportunities and build a safe flying recreational drone community.  For more information on the Drone Info Day and the Forest Fury Team Drone Challenge, visit www.CNYDrones.org, @CNYDrones on Twitter and Facebook, or email: CNYDrones@gmail.com.
