Welcome to the RI Intern Summer Internship Program page! Here, we offer college and university students the opportunity to delve into cutting-edge research at the Information Directorate of the Air Force Research Laboratory.

Key Features:

  • Paid Internship: Gain valuable experience with a paid internship at the forefront of research and innovation.
  • Diverse Research Topics: Explore a variety of research areas, including Data Efficient Machine Learning, IoT, Neuromorphic Computing, and Quantum Information Sciences. 
  • Travel and Housing Assistance: Candidates living more than 50 miles from Rome, New York can benefit from traveling and housing assistance. 
  • Security Clearance Eligibility: Students from freshmen to Ph.D. levels are welcome, provided they are security clearance eligible. 

2025 Program Details:

  • Program Dates: The 2025 Summer Internship Program runs from June 2, 2025 to August 8, 2025.
  • Application Cycle: The application cycle for 2025 is now open!
  • Application Deadlines: The priority deadline is January 31, 2025, with the final deadline on March 15, 2025.
  • Selection Process: Selections began the first week of February 2025. All correspondence regarding applications will be made via email.

Due to the severe weather conditions and state of emergency declared by the City of Rome, Rome Labs & Innovare Advancement Center will be closed on Wednesday, July 17, 2024. This closure affects all Griffiss Institute staff, residents, guests, and program participants, including STEM campers, interns, visiting faculty, fellows, and incubator clients.
