Griffiss Institute Holds Annual Meeting

ROME, NY — On Wednesday, February 20th, the Griffiss Institute held its Annual Meeting. The Griffiss Institute is a nonprofit corporation with a mission to bring together the Air Force Research Laboratory, Industry and Academia, to facilitate and grow the technology base in the Utica and Rome areas. The Griffiss Institute is currently working under a $50 million-dollar five-year contract with the Air Force Research Laboratory Information Directorate, and has become a major player in technology transfer, training and education, and economic development in the Mohawk Valley.

At the meeting, the following returning Officers were approved:

  • Dr. Gerald Capraro, president, Capraro Technologies Inc., will return as Chairman
  • Mr. William Gray, retired Air Force Colonel, will return as Vice Chairman
  • Mr. Steven DiMeo, president, Mohawk Valley EDGE, will return as Treasurer

In addition, two new members were approved:

  • Mr. Frank DuRoss, Vice President of Community Development and Executive Director, MVCC Foundation
  • Mr. William VanShufflin, retired, vice president, BNY Mellon

The Board of Directors controls all property and sets policy, having all power and authority of the Griffiss Institute corporation.

Join us for a day on the green to support STEM education, startups, and innovation. Whether you’re golfing, sponsoring, or donating, your participation helps shape the future. 

Due to the severe weather conditions and state of emergency declared by the City of Rome, Rome Labs & Innovare Advancement Center will be closed on Wednesday, July 17, 2024. This closure affects all Griffiss Institute staff, residents, guests, and program participants, including STEM campers, interns, visiting faculty, fellows, and incubator clients. We will resume normal business hours of operation on July 18, 2024.
